I used ADA, Z, assembler and OCCAM at uni too (as well as Fox DOS!).
All great languages which serve completely different purposes. I found
assembler the most difficult to get on with. One chap on our course
(who is probably the best programmer I ever encountered to this day),
wrote a screen saver one evening in assembler just for fun!

Subject: Re: [nf] 10 programming languages to learn know

Urg... I predate Java. (I feel old now)

At uni we worked with...
C
Cobol (Promised myself I would starve before working in cobol) Fortran
Pascal Pascal-Fc (Multithreaded version for real time stuff) APL
(Strangest language ever) ADA OCCAM (transputers) 68K Assembly

and used the following when doing the postgrad stuff
C++
ADA
OCCAM
68K Assembly

Anyone ever have to use 'Z' to formally prove code?
