Don't you have to understand the structure of DNA to define the differences.

        DNA is DNA; it is chemically defined. But being a polymer, the
length, complexity, organization, etc. has evolved over time, and it is
these characteristics that make it biologically interesting. You can trace
evolutionary lineage based on the degree of difference between two species'
