FoxPro is optimized for speed. It doesn't expect the executable to get blocked 
for reads after it is started. Microsoft probably changed the base C calls to 
help there own programs. FoxPro apparently bypasses that call for the speed. 
Probably the same optimizations that keep FoxPro as the 32 bit application.
