I'm not so skeptical. If the technology is used in a very narrow confined world of conversation, it may be able to stumble along.

It wouldn't do well in general conversations such as "Did you see the latest football (soccer) game? It was a close one!"

But in a more confined conversation it might do better: "Do you have any explosives strapped around your belt?" and "Have you seen a 6'7" gentleman with a long beard strapped to a kidney dialysis machine?"

The system should be able to accurately interpret more constrained responses: "Yes, I have some RPGs in a hidden tunnel beneath my house." and "Do you have any hard candy for my children?"

See, it should work out just fine!

That's right. Having seen the amount of time needed to set up voice recognition software for one person with mixed results, there's no way this is going to work properly.
