What technology do we use in this situation, should not the code have been
burned in a rom that could not have been changed by hacking. How long would
to take to burn a full os for each mission?

What if that capability was taken away? What if we tried and failed?

This from the net.

Iranian electronic warfare specialists were able to cut off
communications links of the American bat-wing RQ-170 Sentinel, says
the engineer, who works for one of many Iranian military and civilian
teams currently trying to unravel the drone's stealth and intelligence
secrets, and who could not be named for his safety.

Using knowledge gleaned from previous downed American drones and a
technique proudly claimed by Iranian commanders in September, the
Iranian specialists then reconfigured the drone's GPS coordinates to
make it land in Iran at what the drone thought was its actual home
base in Afghanistan.

If you mislead the device to think it was in safe territory it's
natural instinct to destroy itself in hostile land is no longer
active. If their communication signal/freq. was changed in the hack
could we have detonated the device if we wanted to?

Does the President show strength to other countries that we didn't
loose control of our drone by stating that "he didn't destroy it."
