The real measure of printing expense should be the cost per page, not
the cost of supplies like paper, cartriges, energy to run the printer
and initial cost. Inkjet cartridges are often cheaper than Laserjet
cartridges, but yeild far fewer pages before they must be replaced, so
the cost per page in a inkjet mixed color, black and white, text,
graphics and photo print environment can range as high as $ .25 to $ .50
per page. A workgroup Laserjet printer, whether color or mono, with a
higher duty cycle and higher print volume per month can reduce the cost
per page down to as little and $ .01 to $ .02 per page.

I'm now taking a close look at the HP Laserjet Pro M1536dnf, which is
essentially an HP 1415, but in a mono black and white printer. It's
much faster than the HP 1415 and supports duplex printing, (eg auto
prints both side of a sheet of paper). The HP 1415 has a 30,000 maximum
pages per month duty cycle compared to the HP 1536 8,000 pages per month
duty cycle. However, the HP 1536 mono is much faster at 26 ppm compared
to the HP 1415 color 12 ppm. There lots to mull over; before, I decide,
but I need a working printer soon.

I can pick up the HP1536 for around $ 250.00, while the HP 1415 would
cost me around $ 375.00.
