We did have problems with the paper feeder on an MFC-240C after about 18 months. The problem with the paper feeder was self inflicted by my wife. She had a paper jam and broke something pulling it out.
Bought 2 more after that and neither one has had any problems in about 3+ years, feeder or scanner, which gets used quite a bit. We do use non-Brother ink cartridges and never had a problem there, either. We get about 3.5 sets of cartridges for the price of one "official" set.
