I use the land line mostly for the ATT telephone listing, and as an 
answering machine.  Since the line is more open, it receives the bulk of 
the span/sale calls, etc,.  If the call is important, the caller will 
leave a message.  I also use the land line to receive and send faxes.  I 
never pickup on the land land, but I do screen messages, and return 
certain calls.

Most of my friend and business acquaintances have my wireless cell phone 
number, which I always pickup, if I'm available.  LOL
