Unfortunately some businesses don't have the profit margins to increase salaries. If you own a hamburger franchise, you're locked in on the price you can charge, so you have to hire people under a certain wage. When the government pays people for TWO YEARS to stay home and collect a check instead of ending it after 26 weeks, you're going to have artificial labor shortages.

Um, if you're not paying enough to compete with unemployment, maybe you shouldn't be surprised that people aren't snapping up your jobs. > In the interview one company refuses to talk to anyone who comes in > on Friday or who hasn't actually worked for the past 90 days because > they know these people are just fulfilling the requirement that they are out > looking for work. > > http://finance.yahoo.com/news/i-have-jobs--but-no-one-wants-them.html I understand not wanting to talk to people on Frdays, but if you're only looking to hire people who are already working, you'd better offer competitive compensation. > Two months ago some Republicans tried to block extending Federal > unemployment for another 52 weeks but the bill got passed anyway. > They were right. Now people are taking advantage of the new rules. It looked to me like most of the people interviewed for that piece were trying to take advantage of potential new hires, and were disappointed that those people were unwilling to be exploited. And on a personal note, I'm happy to see that the woman who wanted to staff her credit card processing boiler room was having trouble hiring telemarketers. -Jerry _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
