Years ago I was bugged by one field that had 11 characters. Since then I have always kept to 10 in order to add / remove and swap tables in and out of the dbc. Stonefield Database Toolkit is a dependency of my applications. I just had a customer delete the dbc and several tables and even a few cdx's for good measure. I was able to restore the missing pieces and run the stonefield repair utility and was back up and running in very little time.
