John: I distribute the meta-data tables and a dbc along with a program that runs the updates & repairs. I drop the dbc in with the tables and it adds, updates & repairs anything contained in the dbc. I use it for updating to a new release. It adds tables, indexes & views and keeps any data in place while it does it.
Like I said it is a dependency for my applications.
