Virgil - I believe earlier in this e-mail thread that Joe already confirmed - based upon feedback from Neat - that it is in fact an SQL type database!

I ask because it may not have a database at all. It may have folders with file names, and a small database with pointers to those file names -----Original Message----- From: ProFox [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Joe Yoder Sent: Thursday, April 25, 2013 9:43 AM To: [email protected] Subject: RE: [NF] Neat scanner system info and questions The discussion went off in tangents as usual which is fine with me but I still am hoping for several answers. I recently talked to the Neat technical support department and was told that the storage system is only limited by the space available on the hard drive. I expressed my skepticism based on the 4 gig limit for Compact edition but was assured that the system creates as many databases as it needs. A previous version could create a maximum of 10 for a 40 gig total but the current version is unlimited. I wondered if there is a limit to the amount of data that can be in one folder but was assured that there is not and that one can do a seamless text search over the entire system. Does this seem believable? I would have expected that Microsoft would prevent this from happening either through the software design or by licensing. If the Neat company has done something tricky to have this work, what are my chances of accessing the data directly? Finally - how do I get started talking directly to the Neat SQL server?
