Interesting. I saw the inability of a Dr. to go with the flow within his field of study. If he could defy the trend on this, would he also NOT follow suit in focusing on trends like obesity and heart disease while still doing the same treatment(s) he did twenty years earlier? My current Dr. has a laptop or a tablet and will photograph a skin section to monitor potential mole growth over time. For me a tan is freckles merging together.

Not at all, you may be good at maths and a crappy mechanic. There is no "follow suit", he may not interested (or willing to spend his valuable time) in learning a new OS every other year (or a new interface), but really interested in his professional field. If you told your current Dr. that every time he wants to take a picture he must press some weird combination of keys, or go through a convoluted menu, and know about IP numbers and how is his net configured... would he be so willing to take pictures with his laptop?

Same thing in our field. I do apps for end users in the administrative and accounting area. I don't have the need to and I DON'T WANT TO deal with OS bullshit. From my job's point of view the OS should just work and get out of the way and allow me to do my job unhindered.
