I understood that to be true for the older SSD drives, that they didn't have the read and write iterations that traditional HDs did.

However, I have recently learned that the SSDs that were out for the last several years, that their reliability is very similar to the reliability of traditional HDs are. Reliability of the electronics/hardware becomes more of a factor compared the the failure rate of the media, if that makes sense. I wish I could afford a SSD for some existing PCs. It'd breath new life into some aging hardware.
