Hi Fernando,

Hi Virgil:

I'm FoxPro developer using Ubuntu as my main Operating System from 2001,

Hmm, I remember starting using the initial Ubuntu release, and in my mind that was 4-04.

and using Windows inside VirtualBox, so I can make Windows snapshots when I
need, or even clone the Windows VM into another VM, without any problems.

Running Windows inside a VM is the only way to stay sane.

Even in the case you have a problem with Ubuntu, you can reinstall Ubuntu,
reinstall VirtualBox and run your existing VM. Just be sure that when
installing Linux select the manual configuration of partitions, select 30
or 40 GB for the system ("/" is root) and the rest for data and
configuration (mapped as "/home" partition)

I've noticed a serious lag running VirtualBox on my Mac and keyboard repeat rate in my VM's, especially Ubuntu. Have you noticed anything like this?

About Source Control tool, I recommend to stay away from SVN and prefer
GIT, or you can use PlasticSCM <http://www.plasticscm.com/>, that is free
DVCS for teams up to 15 people, very visual and with multi-platform
support. I'm already using it with FoxPro, but it's for any programming
language, and have a very good documentation on his site
<http://www.plasticscm.com/documentation.html>.

Nah, stick with open source. Learn Git. It has lots of third-party visual add-ons if really needed.

For a small guide on how to start with the workflow, you can read what
I've wrote
at VFPx <https://vfpx.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Using FoxBin2Prg with
PlasticSCM> (it's for VFP, but can apply most concepts on other languages)

Thanks for working to get more Fox developers using distributed source control. My productivity these days is orders of magnitude higher than a decade ago, and source control is a big part of that.

Paul
