Ah yes - POC Laptop + Beer = A Mess!

Info? Sure!
OS = POC Vista (Sad - I know - I shoulda upgraded that OS on there YEARS
Ago!)
HW - its an Alienware. Would have to have the sucker booted - and then see the
actual spec's. I think its only a Dual-Core. Memory is probably only like 2GB.
Disk Space? Ouch - Running WAY Low - at around 4GB - total is like 250GB maybe.
Last Disk Test? Last week while in Cali - because of problems - when it was
booting - it automatically did the Disk Test.
Defragged? Ages ago! My bad...
TB Vers. - Not sure.
Haven't checked TB support site in a while.

In regards to this missing Sent mail - I was just ignoring it for a while. I
noticed the problem maybe a Month ago or so - maybe longer. Its only just
recently that I really got Totally Annoyed with it - and thus my posting here...

I have Two e-mail accounts on there. Both are POP. And, this missing Sent
e-mails, I think it ONLY one the One account. But, not sure - since the Other
account, it's my older e-mail, and I no longer use it as my primary e-mail, and
thus I almost never SEND Emails from that account.

I almost never do the Web Interface - especially since at my Day job - they
don't want us doing personal e-mails on our work PC's. Thus everyone does it on
their phones. Which is also what I do. But, if I am not mistaken - I believe
that the sent folder DOES Show up there. But, alas - its ONLY Showing e-mails
that get Sent via the Web interface - NOT from either my laptop or my desktop
PC(and, luckily that one is NOT a POC trademarked unit!) :-)

And - yes, once or twice lately it has done compacting. But, AFAIK - the
Compacting ALWAYS Occurs in the background - and it Never shows you what's
occurring during the Compacting. Am I right?

Understood - definitely NO Way I should Compact while on the train!

Yes - I can easily Backup my email folders - I know where they are located.
But, it's the same folders on my Desktop - so that is already in theory a kind
of Backup.

-K-

Bearing in mind that this is on your POC laptop and we can always blame the
beer, perhaps you could offer some more info:

- OS?
- Hardware?
- Disk space? Free? Last time you tested the disk? Defragged?
- Version of TB?
- Have you checked the Thunderbird support site?
- What have you tried?
- How is it configured? What kind of email account(s)? POP/IMAP?
- Do you have access to the email account through a web interface?
Does the sent folder show there?
- Anything else you might think is useful (like compacting!)

If I were you, I would NOT try compacting your folders while you're on a train
with unreliable power and a bad battery! That's just asking for trouble. You're
a lot more likely to have success if you:

- Make a COMPLETE BACKUP of T-bird and it's storage folders before beginning
- Expect the compacting to take ALL WEEKEND
- Start the machine off, and LEAVE IT ALONE

Imagine the worlds slowest PACK. That's about what you're witnessing.

OTOH, if you feel like hacking a bit, T-bird stores in SQLite3 tables, iirc,
and you can have all sorts of fun poking around in there. DDid I mention MAKE A
BACKUP FIRST?
