Very easy. I didn't fancy the install myself so I went for a media centre kit from here: http://thepihut.com/collections/raspberry-pi-kits-and-bundles/products/raspberry-pi-2-media-centre-kit That gets you all the items shown, and a pre-imaged SD card with OpenELEC (barebones Linux distro) and Kodi pre-installed. I believe you can get one with RaspBian which is a bit more of a full Debian distro. You have to put the board in the case and snap it shut, but that's the extent of the assembly required. Make sure you don't do what I did, and order the power adaptor with the wrong prongs for my country! I have it on a wired network connection, but they have a WiFi adapter for £6, make sure you get the one that works with OpenELEC: http://thepihut.com/collections/raspberry-pi-wifi/products/usb-wifi-adapter-for-the-raspberry-pi You can use various remote controls, I use an app on my phone to control it. >From there it's plugging it in to the HDMI port on your TV and letting it update. Don't worry about powering it off, you basically can't but it will go into power saving and it uses hardly any juice. It will play audio and video from anywhere on your network via uPNP and the Apple version thereof, and a bunch of similar technologies. For YouTube, streaming TV and streaming film from the web you use 'add-ons', some of which are available on its default list, some of which you have to Google for, but it's not hard. Some of course are illegal, so on your head be it. -- Alan Bourke alanpbourke (at) fastmail (dot) fm _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://mail.leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/1444065672.1531195.401840049.0193f...@webmail.messagingengine.com ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
