I'm in the market for getting a new developer workstation. Profox is full of past threads discussing machine configs but as we all know, the technology is changing so fast that many of these threads are out-of-date even before they are finished.
I'm looking for recommendations on either a brand name workstation (HP, Dell, Gateway, etc) with specific options or recommendations on a build-it-yourself config from the ground up (motherboard, ram, video card, hard drive, fan, etc) including vendor suggestions (NewEgg, TigerDirect, etc). I plan on running Windows and Linux VM's on this workstation and doing Windows (VFP, .NET) and Linux (PHP/Python/MySQL and Dabo?!) development. I am not looking for a laptop. Finally, I am not a hardware guy so keep your suggestions simple ;) Thanks in advance!
