Nothing is wrong with MySQL. I am convinced there is something wrong
with the people that make those decisions (seriously - who would spend
tens of thousands of dollars
on licensing fees when there is no need to?????).

I have heard so many lame ass excuses from "We want to go with the
industry standard' (WTF does that mean??) to nobody uses open source
software - everyone uses M$FT.

On an upside I was recently involved in a rather large data warehousing
project that used all open source tools. We used PostgreSQL for the
heavy work
pulling gigs of data out of MSSQL and some smaller databases we went
with MySQL 5. CentOS for the servers, PHP, AJAX, Kettle, and I think
iReports for reporting requirements. The only money spent was for VMWare
virtualization and the hardware.

It was a 6 month project with a team of 7 people and the project
launched with great success. It was a milestone in my development career
being involved with such a big
project using open source software almost exclusively.

IMNSHO it is just the beginning..............

Been up for almost 2 months now running 24x7 without a hint of any
trouble whatsoever..
