That's probably what I will have to do. If I build the EXE, there is no way for me to trace through it, is there ?? Basically I want to step through it line by line, module by module so that I can quickly grasp the design of it
I didn't realize I could step through the *.sc* and watch it, so I will do that in the morning. Thanks for the advice. You can build an EXE and run that without the source code, or copy all the source code and run it from inside the IDE. This is all VFP9, NO 2.6 stuff... Do I just copy the *.sc* to my test folder ??? That only happened in 2.6. You can still run the SPR code gen'd in 2.6 in VFP and you can trace the code. Rebuild the project and make sure to check on the Debug Info in the Project Manager's Project Info dialog (off the Project menu, or right-click on the Project Manager). You can trace code in the VFP forms too. Just SET STEP ON in the form Load() method. Another thing is to ensure the code is in the VFP path so the debugger can find it. I have a VFP9 project with zero documentation and I want to trace my way through it. I want to generate the .SPR screens so that I can trace my way through it (I get the "source not available" message) In the old days (yep, I know I'm dating myself) there was a checkbox to automatically generate the .SPR screens By the way, I'm ordering 5 of whil's books, so in the future I can look up this answer, but that don't do me any good tonight <grin> By the way, so far modifying VFP9 is very straight forward even for us ole 2.6 guys...!!! Did I mention that this has to be done via "Remote Desktop Connection" with a sql server backend... Any suggestions.
