Hope I'm not teaching you how to suck eggs here: IKEA cabinets are OK providing they are put together and installed well. Most bad kitchens I've encountered are a result of bad installation. My neighbour at my previous house had a kitchen that was on sale at £250 ($500) it was installed by a really good person and has lasted 15 years.
