Hi Ricardo! This is *Catholic* Church doctrine. The Catholic theologians came to these conclusions by studying not only the bible, but other religious books, teachings of the saints over the years and the like. It is not a high obligation of Catholics to believe every detail of this as far as I know.The wikipedia article has some of the scripture references if this interests you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devil_in_Christianity I am Presbyterian, which is similar to Catholic in some respects.
