Look at Blat, it works very well, and does not need a mail client open.

Subject: Automated Email

Hi Guys,

I have a membership system which sends 7 statistics reports by email at the
start of each month. When the user was using Outlook Express there was no
problem but since she has changed to Outlook 2000 it requires confirmation
for each email - no big deal, there's only seven of them. I'm using the
MSMAPI32.ocx (I know, I know - MAPI bad, SMTP good! But it works.)

I've now been asked to look at sending reminders by email, typically 50 -
100 at a time. The user doesn't fancy pressing OK that many times at one
go. Has anyone any suggestions as to a way round this problem? I did look
briefly at SMTP but it seemed to require too much knowledge of the user's
system so I left it as it wasn't generic enough for my needs but I suppose I
could use it in this one-off case.

TIA
