I do exactly the same.  I try to keep the C partition as small as
possible so I can boot from a Ghost USB device (actually it's my MP3
player...) and burn to a DVD.  Gotta love Ghost.

Drive D is for pics, development, movies etc. that I periodically copy
to a spare HD.

I had a drive fail some years ago and it took me weeks to setup
Windows and all the apps.  Once bitten...

p.s. Thanks for the reminder, I'm overdue another backup!
