Hi Jeff, > Is Guineu going to use VFP tables?
It already uses them... not the full feature set of VFP, but basic access (USE, SEEK, SCAN, REPLACE, etc.) is possible. I'll add more over time. The engine is completely written in managed code and also runs on Windows PDAs and on Linux with Mono. > Many have not. Like me for one. or me in in many projects. <s> > Since I would have to rewrite my applications anyway Well, my long-term goal is to avoid that. If there's a business case for rewriting the application and the budget available, that's great. Take the opportunity and port the app to Python, Java or .NET learning a new skill set along the way. But it doesn't make sense to throw away existing code for non-business reasons. Granted, the code might not be beautiful, you would do things different today, etc. but it's debugged code, does exactly what the busniess needs and has cost a fortune to build in the first place. Hardly anyone would tear their own house completely down and rebuild from scratch, just because there are new materials, new types of heating and cooling, or because sustainability is the new buzz word. Yet, many do this for software that costed about as much as a house. <shrug> > Christof has undertaken no small project Yeah, I know. <g> -- Christof _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[EMAIL PROTECTED] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
