well my moan was really about XML and sening so much air with it. But I dont
expect little ol me will change Microbloats ideas. Or W3 either.

The 'standard' would be to use pkzip or gzip compression. If you zip your
RTF documents, you will be pleasantly surprised by how well they compress.
This makes sense for transmission or storage. 

But when it comes time to parse any of these files, you want them in an
uncompressed state.
