Agreed. Specs were:

"to keep track of my schedules, meetings, notes,..."
"not necessarily looking to replace my current notebook"
"easier to carry around and use in smaller spaces"
"Cost is an issue"
"I am not in need of something to do hardcore programming on."

Sounds like the perfect application for a PDA/Phone combo. Zune's a
bad joke, Palm's tanking, Nokia's a competitor, but the iPhone seems
to be getting the big buzz right now.

And he's in an area where the iPhone gets coverage, unlike Northern
New England :(
