>> Thanks for the information update. Well, updating the Eula will probably take longer than the code testing and writing combined!<<
EULA issues from what I understand (and IANAL <g>) revolve around the release into CodePlex and shared source. Much to the same impact as the release of XSource after VFP 9 was released. So this is going to be a real positive and is worth the wait. >> I really hope that they address the problems found in SP2 (SP3???) in order that we can all make use of the Sedna enhancements as it would be a real shame to just tread water with SP1 - even though it is sufficient for most needs.<< I think everyone in the community agrees we could use SP3, but it should not stop the use of the Sedna functionality. In my opinion, we need to make the case to Microsoft as a business case for SP3. I have not had time to work through this, and I am not sure if it would even matter, but it might be worth the time investigating. The perspective from the Microsoft side is the cost and risk, and the tremendous effort of testing. If the risk can really be minimized (as it is the bigger deal), is there a way to influence Microsoft into making a couple of bug fixes based on the findings? The community needs to determine which bugs do not have a workaround (like some of the reporting bugs Cathy Pountney has discovered for one instance). Then we take this list to Microsoft and see what can be done. >> In the real world, I guess that there are many VFP9 additions that haven't even been looked at by the majority of developers. For example, the Report Listener and the GDi functions on Codeplex to name a but a couple.<< I agree. In fact, just last month I used MAKETRANSACTABLE() for the first time. This is one of the great things about VFP and the width of the product. I think I will be learning things about VFP 9 for years to come. >> What with this existing treasure trove to delveinto and Craig's up and coming VFP Studio as well as the ETecnologia initiative to produce VFP based on the .net framework, the future hasn't been as bright for many years and I certainly look forward to using the product to the end of my career and hopefully beyond.<< Not to mention Guineu from Christof. There are some cool things coming in VFPX too that have not been announced yet (real soon though). We live in very innovative times.
