Perhaps consider loading the DD-WRT or Tomato firmware into your router.
Both are free and chock full of goodness :)

You might want to try using different channels on the card and the router.
The default is auto. Another idea is to boost the signal on the router. Get
a higher db rated antenna to boost the signal. You should be able to do that
for around 15.00.
