I'm looking for admin controls that my customer can click to allow my
program to install it's own updates. The jury is still out as to whether
this is possible or not without a hack, but if that's not, because MS
has decided to lock something down, then there is a major problem with
their implementation. To illustrate that I'm not day-dreaming of
something that can't be done, I pointed to a program that handles
security properly.

The major point is that the customer, not MS, must have control over
his/her operating environment. Let MS set all the defaults they want, to
the most locked down state, but then give the customer the controls to
make selective and informed changes, such as this case.

But the jury is still out. I really don't want to discover there is any
such MS-installed roadblock to implementing and supporting our products.

Bill
