I don't care how many lockdowns MS puts into the OS, so long as Admin
has the ability to allow  exceptions for cases such as this, where an
installed application needs to maintain itself. 

Why dance around this basic question? Sure, we all care about security,
but if can't do our job, then we've got nothing. What's the answer?
