I have experienced something that happens just often enough to think
that there is a procedure that is clearing out temp folders by the
operating system or in the case of corporate networks, the dbas. I have
users on a corporate network using XP on a desktop that have a
configuration file disappear once in a while. It is stored in documents
and settings\theuser\local settings\temp. The user is not clearing the
folder out with a cleanup or anything. So I moved the config file to
the application folder.

On corporate networks they clear out my profile whenever they feel like
it. It can be there for months and be gone just when I really need it.
