Madigan, > Member the "new fresh guy" Jimmy Carter? How did he > work out?
That's actually one of my big fears. I just don't see Obama being able to start off without a big stumble. Some say he is like Kennedy, but Kennedy's Bay of Pigs debacle began because of his inexperience combined with chutzpa. Many inexperienced leaders who wound up in the presidency had some real whopper-sized errors. Bill and Hillary themselves had that huge whopper with the health care proposal in '93 and the tax hike that was not well supported or explained. It cost the democrats the house and senate for years. It caused nothing major to be done for years in that administration. Hillary has learned from those errors. The health care plan she's putting out now is a lot more palatable than what she did previously. I don't doubt that Obama is a smart guy, and he gives great speeches. But speeches only go so far. IMO, if we elect him there's going to be a bigger period while the country weathers through his newbie goofs.
