They (Pakistan and India) are self balancing in nuclear capability and threat. Plus, we keep up (and in 1998 did have sanctions on Pakistan) threat up economic sanctions if they don't play well in the sandbox. Again, one could argue from Ed's POV why should we interfere at all?
