I have just installed FireFox 3 to my Fedora 8 OS today, and haven't
spent much time with it yet. The excitement surrounding Firefox 3, to
me, is Firefox commitment to the browser. People have become very
comfortable using a browser to consume internet content and internet
applications like Googles office. Microsoft would like to change that,
and bring the emphasis back to its window desktop, requiring
applications and internet content to be consume in Microsoft's .Net.
Microsoft dropped the browser shortly after it started pushing .Net.
Microsoft only updates IE as necessary to maintain parity for features
being innovated by other browsers like Opera and Firefox.

Microsoft big fear is that the internet itself will become the new OS,
which can be accessed from any of the current OS today like Linux, Sun,
Unix, Apple, etc.

Firefox, in its effort to steam the tide of Microsoft who is
aggressively campaigning to .Net everything, is even being groomed so it
can run desktop applications as well and internet applications and
content, so this posses a real threat to Microsoft, who would like to
maintain its monopolistic position by forcing everyone into its OS via
.Net and office.
