Hi Leland! The real reason your D buddies are hot on the trail of the Patriot Act is the impact on drug trading and money laundering, topics dear to the D heart. The Patriot Act, which passed congress with immense bi-partisan support and was reauthorized with some minor changes in 2005, has been and remains an important piece of defense legislation.
