        So repealing Prohibition did "nada" with regard to the crime  
surrounding alcohol?

        Your expectations are unreasonable. Nobody is claiming that repealing  
the prohibition on drugs will make things perfect. The only  
expectation is that you will remove the entire chain of dealers/ 
smugglers, since you will have removed their only interest in doing  
this: money. We will save *billions* that would have gone to  
continuing this fruitless effort to treat drug abuse as a "war", and  
will receive billions in revenue that formerly went to the drug rings.  
On the downside, we may have to close some of our jails.
