Hi Michael. I have just finished a module for my Purchase Orders system. The scanner I purchased was a:
CD-2800 H/HELD BARCODE READER W/PS2 KEYBOARD WEDGE ADAPTOR 1000K [P/N CD/2800 Branded "TYSSO" My suppliers are www.aslweb.biz so that you could look to see the info. And then perhaps find a supplier in the USA. I purchased two, one is used in the order receipts department to scan the Purchase Order Labels. The detail scanned is a unique bar code to the supplier. The employee adds their Employers Product code and the End Customers post code. In despatch they scan the labels again and that removes the product from stock, if no product the Barcode remains in the computer and is used to order more stock. The Customers labels are placed on the products box and the placed in an outer container for pick up by the Catalogue supplier. A packing list with product details and barcode is placed inside the outer container and in a plastic holder and stuck on the outside. The Catalogue supplier just scans at their end to check what stock they are supplying to their customer. The barcodes are printed using an old Epson laser, but I tried a number of different printers and all could be read by the Barcode reader. The Catalogue supplier has confirmed that the printed barcodes can be read OK at their end. I did however have numerous problems finding the necessary barcode fonts and eventually finished up purchasing a set of Barcode 39 fonts from http://www.barcodingfonts.com/bar39.htm the link takes you to the page for the fonts I purchased. The fonts come in a number of different heights depending how you want to print and you must add an "*" to the start and finish. By the way my Client supplies to a number of different companies in the UK and elsewhere. The products are all leather goods, Belts Handbags etc. In this case their Client supplies Catalogue goods and also runs a TV Catalogue company. The Labels are for sending to their Customer. Client wants to staple them onto the wood bundles and then use that for scanning through the plant as well as for recounting. I had pitched the use of RFID tags a few years back but I don't think they want to go that route due to expense (or fear of it not working as well as a simple stapled label). tia! --Michael [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/%(listmsgid)s ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
