Hi Michael,

I have two in the office, a Netgear SC101 which works OK all the time
and an Icy Box,
The Icy box works OK until the power goes down, I live in the country
and we suffer badly with power outs and they last too long for battery
backup. The Icy box has to be switched on to get it back on line, it
will not start-up automatically. Not a problem as I only use it for
backup with stuff that I don't use regularly. It does however use Linux
and will act as a Linux server.
See http://www.scan.co.uk/Product.aspx?WebProductId=696370
I've sold over 30 of the SC101's and 3 of the Icy Box's. All my Clients
are satisfied and I haven't had a single failure

The Icy Box is available to all on the Network but can be setup with
folders only available to a group or a single user.
The SC101 needs software on each computer that needs to access it.

Don't know whether the Icy Box is available in the USA.

Subject: [NF] Need NAS recommendations for home network

OK, so I have the choice of Buffalo, La Cie, Western Digital, Netgear,
HP, Iomega, Edge, tritton, seagate, soho, snap and others.

Anyone have any prefrerences?

Anyone have one that reaslly sucked?

We just bought a RAID 5 1 TB NAS for a client, but I don't want to spend
$1,000.

I'm only looking for 500 GB or so without any bells and whistles, to
backup my hard disk and store junk off my laptop.
