Well, I'm using Vista in my laptop for all my needs (including development 
in VFP and .NET + SQL Server). I am using it virtually everywhere, under 
various networks, wireless carriers, and so on. So far, the only problem 
that I had was he refused to connect through Remote Desktop Connection to a 
WinXP box, but that got fixed with Vista SP1. My experience with Vista is 
it's better than XP and I wouldn't go back.

I would say you should give it a second chance.
