Thanks for the suggestion. From the Times-Dispatch web site:

>As of the end of 2007, Kaine had granted one absolute pardon; two
>conditional pardons; one commutation of sentence; 14 simple >pardons; and
>1,144 restorations of rights. Absolute pardons declare that the person
>should not have been convicted; conditional pardons >change a sentence,
>typically releasing someone from prison; commutations reduce a sentence;
>and simple pardons grant forgiveness by the >governor on behalf of the
>state. - Richmond Times-Dispatch - Mar 19, 2008

That was the closest match to your claim from the 13 hits on "Kaine
pardons". There was one more recent hit about the a McCain campaign official
charging that Kaine was "conspiring" (the newspaper's quotes) with Obama to
add pardoned felons to voter rolls.
