Pete, With Michael, strong language is necessary. He claims we have socialized medicine which is not true or in other words a lie. He claims that our health care system doesn't work. For most Canadians, it does work and it works very well. That doesn't say that improvements wouldn't help.
As to the Canadians who winter in Florida, they are generally older pensioned people who would tend to complain no matter what. They tend to have too much time on their hands. And Canadians by and large are complainers to begin with. They use the U.S. health care system because they need the services. If they were in Canada, they would use the Canadian system. The Canadian health care system will pay for U.S. health care. Most Canadians who winter in Florida pay for extra health care coverage beyond what the Canadian pays for. Friends of ours paid $4,500 for 5 months for 2 people in their late 60s in fairly good health. I've heard of others who have paid as much as $15,000 for similar coverage but they were older with more health issues. Perhaps the health care providers haven't figured out how to collect from both the Canadian system and the health care insurers. But then again, there are deadbeats in all societies. > -----Original Message----- > From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf > Of Pete Theisen > Sent: Saturday, November 22, 2008 5:59 PM > To: ProFox Email List > Subject: Re: [OT] 25 billion won't do it? > > Alan Lukachko wrote: > > Stop the lies about Canada's health care not working.
