Oh come on, Vince.  How is it you figure Ubuntu screwed up?  You simply have
to pick one connection or the other, then stop expecting to have options
made available.  Has not using Windows for the past many decades taught you
anything?  heh-heh...

Seriously, I am sorry to hear of your WiFi and Ethernet woes with Ubuntu.
My HP ze2000 laptop works great with v-8.04 for both Ethernet and WiFi,
whereas the v-7.10 did not work with WiFi at all.  If I could not select
between both WiFi and Ethernet I would be crimped, and would not be able to
make use of Ubuntu like I do currently.
