Goodness, that does sound strange. One of our esteemed colleagues suggested
you try ftp on a different server site. I set up an account for you with
read/write/delete/create access to test with. I even placed a 78mg IE6sp1
.exe file out there for you to test downloading. And, there is also the
ftp_commander freeware app in case you ever need a freeware ftp client for
yourself or clients to use.

Once you are done playing with the ftp Server let me know so I can clip the
account and delete the duplicate files.

The ftp address is gilhale.dnsalias.com
The User ID is: geoff
The PW is: flight
You have 500Mg available space to dink around with.

I do hope you get to the bottom of the matter. I do not know if you are
using IE or not, but I find IE has a bad habit of timing out, even
mid-stream downloading or uploading. I often shell to DOS and use the
native ftp command via code automation with good results. For manual
interaction I use a blend of solutions to include ftp_commander, ftp
Voyager, ws_ftp Pro, file-zilla, ZipGenius Suite, etc. All have their
quirks, but all work well. I got ws_ftp Pro as it preserves the original
date-time stamp of transmitted files.

Good Luck!

Gil
