Oops -- of course I meant a PCMCIA card. (But what's a few missing  
letters among friends?)

I have done a lot of this. Editing could be a full-time job, though,  
as I have 100s of GBs of videos from our "home movies" mostly from  
when the kids were babies.

Best quality/size tradeoff for me has been DIVX/AVI codec.
