Lets assume I was wrong and 30,000 is the correct figure. How does that in any way change the force of my argument? THIRTY THOUSAND people killed by guns. And you don't see a problem? Ignoring crime related gun deaths is absurd! One of the major arguments about guns is that they are used in crimes! Suicides may be a debatable stat although some would say the prevalence of guns encourages suicide although I will admit that is arguable.
What I find amusing is that somehow you think you don't have a gun-related death problem in the USA. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Pete Theisen Sent: Wednesday, 28 January 2009 3:07 PM To: ProFox Email List Subject: Re: [OT] Stupid law of the year goes to congressman Peter King (R) New York Geoff Flight wrote: > Like so many gun-loving Americans you get in some sort of frenzy at the > thought of a country that bans them. And then you look at the 50,000 gun Hi Geoff! OK, this doesn't break out the suicides, cops killing crooks, crooks killing each other and crooks killing victims but rather includes them all. Where did you get 50,000? http://webapp.cdc.gov/cgi-bin/broker.exe Total of 30,694. If 2/3 are suicides and some are crime related then Michael's 11k figure is on the high side. This is for 2005, they have fallen every year so they are less now. -- Regards, Pete http://pete-theisen.com/ [excessive quoting removed by server] _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
