I thought that when Ford and GM started to buy up the smaller mfgs
around the world it was to not only control the market, but to learn
more about quality. Volvo as a prize in name and recognition should
have given Ford a heads up on how to do things better, and I think
they learned.

GM won't die. Much like Toyota.

If GM cuts back on it's advertising and funding of the USA sports
empires they have a good chance. I wonder what the burden of
Football, Basketball, Baseball, Hockey to name a few are on the actual
price of a vehicle? Expand that over the globe to futbol and others
and it is probably a huge % on each vehicle. 8% maybe more? I have
no idea, but I am sick and tired watching truck ads.
