Bingo --- it's the "hey man, everybody else is doing it" kind of peer pressure....lol! Reminds me of this dooschbag Executive Director at a company years ago who was insistent on us developing e-commerce apps....even though they had NOTHING to do with our company's purpose/mission. He was just reading the usual buzzwords on his CEO Digest I'm sure and thought "why not us too?" without asking if it was really right for the company. Gladly, they fired him long ago (but not before he ruined the lives of many folks by screwing up the company royally....many people lost their jobs years ago b/c of that d!ck). > >> Well if the same could be achieved by having a >> Win32 app using a VNC console that might be more efficient than having to >> convert and transmit all output as HTML. > > And developing Win32 apps is still about a billion times less fiddly and > annoying than trying to achieve a similar result with a web technology. That's the thing that really keeps my zeal from blooming for developing web apps. Instead, I design VFP9 apps to access a MySQL database on the web. So far, it's working great. And yes, _Stephen, if necessary, I use stored procedures for grunt intensive data work that I don't want to bring down over the pipe. ;-) _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
