The effort devoted to proofing and spell checking an email, before I send it, is dependant on how much time I have available. Besides, incorrect use of homonyms, proper spelling, proper punctuation, or even using complete words is losing relevance in this new age of emailing and instant messaging. In English the word "there" and "their" sound identical when spoken, yet there is no difficulty in discerning which word is being use in the context of verbal conversations, which probably explains why the improper use of homonyms like "your" and "you're" is so prevelent on the internet today.
