*I did fix this!

*Took a few days:

    * A few System Restores with the OEM's DVD
    * Earse the HD with the OEM's DVD and then System Restore
    * Bootcfg /Rebuild

After each of these the problem continued.

The solution in the end was simple:

While in Normal Mode in the Command Window:

I edited the Boot.ini *Bootcfg* to:

    [boot loader]
    timeout=20
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
    Professional" /fastdetect

The BAD line in the old Boot.ini was

        multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /*noexecute=optin */fastdetect

Thank all for their warm support.
